Morning departure from
Arusha to Tarangire National Park, for game-viewing and
photography. The Park takes its name from the Tarangire river,
which crosses it length wise, giving support to a large wildlife
population during the dry season. During this season, between
June and October, thousands of animals including wildebeests,
zebras, elands, elephants, buffaloes, hartebeests and more
migrate from the Maasai steppe to the Tarangire River. Not
surprisingly, lions and other predators find the place
attractive. Afternoon break for picnic lunch then continue with
game drive. At 14:00hrs leave Tarangire and proceed to Lake
Manyara, and later proceed to the lodge or campsite for dinner
and overnight. Early morning
full-breakfast, and then collect your packed lunch. Descend the
Great Rift wall from the escarpment and drive into Lake Manyara
Park. Morning and early afternoon game drive with a short break
for picnic lunch. Depart from Manyara at 14:00hrs and proceed to
Serengeti via the slopes of Ngorongoro thick and rainy forest.
Cross the Ngorongoro and Serengeti plains to drive to Seronera
arriving before sunset, ready for dinner and overnight stay. After breakfast, explore
the vast animal-rich game plains of the Serengeti. The Serengeti
National Park, covering 14.763 square kilometers, is by common
consent the world’s greatest wildlife sanctuary. One of the most
breathtaking events in the animal kingdom is the annual
migration of hundreds of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and
gazelles followed by the attendant predators. The park has about
35 species of plains animals from the hare to the elephant, and
a wonderful selection of bird life. Survey estimates indicate
the animal population includes more than 3,000 lions, 1,600,000
wildebeests, and 500,000 zebras. There are more than 400 bird
species. In the afternoon return to your Lodge for lunch. At
about 16:00hrs leave the lodge continue with game drive,
studying the birdlife of the famous Serengeti. In the evening
drive back to your Lodge or Campsite for dinner and overnight
stay. After
breakfast, collect your picnic lunch and proceed to Ngorongoro
with a short game-drive en-route the famous Serengeti. Divert
from the Serengeti-Ngorongoro highway to visit Olduvai Gorge and
get a brief history about the history of the earliest sign of
mankind in the conservation area. Have your picnic lunch at the
site then continue to Ngorongoro for dinner and overnight in one
of the lodges or campsites superbly perched on the rim of
Ngorongoro Crater. In
the morning, check-out from your lodge after breakfast and then
descend 610m/2000ft down into the floor of the Crater for a full
morning tour. This collapsed volcano is home to a large
concentration of wildlife including lion, rhino, hippo, hyena
and elephant. Afternoon lunch at the picnic sites. Leave the
base of the Crater and drive back to Arusha arriving after
sunset. |
