The tour picks out some of the highlights of this colourful
city of
Mombasa. You will depart from your beach hotel in the
morning and drive to Mombasa. Begin the tour with a visit to the
Baobab forest along Mama Ngina Drive before proceeding to Fort
Jesus Museum built by the Portuguese at the end of the 16th
century then you will tour the Mombasa Old Town by foot as you
head to the bustling old fruit and vegetable market. - the
Mackinon market. While on this city tour of Mombasa you will
also visit the Elephant Tusks and Indian Temple before
proceeding to Akamba Woodcraft at Changamwe where you can see
the craftsmen at work and select your carvings at the lowest
price you can ever get in the world. Afterwards, transfer back
to your hotel.

After lunch depart for the Haller Park (formerly Bamburi
Quarry Nature Trail), a former disused quarry that has been
reborn as a small private game sanctuary. A major initiative has
been made to "green" the quarry, and these efforts have
literally blossomed into an area of lush beauty thriving with
casuarinas trees and other tropical flora. A variety of wildlife
including eland, buffalo, Oryx, crocodiles and other reptiles
can be seen wandering with crowned cranes. The commercially
viable aquaculture complex is also visited.

Ngomongo Villages is a sustainable eco cultural tourist
village. The v illage is a collection of 10 diverse rural Kenya
Tribal Homesteads, complete with hut, cultivated crops,
domestic, wild animals and even a village witch doctor. Each
village has activities that visitors can participate in
including archery, boating, rafting, tasting tribal foods,
trekking, hook fishing, grinding and pounding maize.
Ngomongo Villages was constructed by reclaiming 16 acres of a
barren limestone quarry. Local people and visitors alike can
experience a living learning experience on environmental
rehabilitation.

transporting their handicrafts to the floating market in
Mombasa's Tudor Creek.
After docking, our guide will lead you on a walk through the
historic Old Town to the 400 year old fortress of Fort Jesus.
Built by the Portuguese as a stronghold at the entrance to the
harbour, the ancient fort is a stunning example of 16th century
military architecture that has survived centuries of attack and
conquest.

Here you will be welcomed by Portuguese and Arab fire-bearers
before witnessing a dazzling, world class, sound and light show
that is followed by a sumptuous five course dinner. Served
alfresco within the ramparts of the Fort, this is a truly
unforgettable dining experience.

Tamarind Dhow for the ultimate magical experience. As soon as
you step off the gangplank, you are met by a
traditionally-dressed waiter who shows you to your table and
serves you with a Dawa the house cocktail made with vodka, lime,
honey, sugar and crushed ice. As the dhow slips gently away from
the jetty, the resident band starts to play and you quickly fall
under the spell of the magical Tama rind atmosphere. Take your
lunch or candle lit dinner on the Dhow of the Tamarind Sea Food
Restaurant
With two sailings a day, you may choose lunch, shaded from the
midday sun by a canvas awning, or maybe a romantic candle-lit
dinner under a star filled sky.
The cruise takes you around Tudor Creek, you also get to have a
panoramic view of Mombasa's Old Town and Fort Jesus. The dhow is
then moored in a sheltered bay at the head of the creek.
Awaiting the guests is the smell of finely grilled lobster and
steak, as chefs begin to cook the sumptuous meals. A four-course
gourmet meal can be expected. After you finish your delicious
meal, a waiter serves Arabic coffee in an original brass pot.
Once the meals is over, you are returned safely to your hotel.

Depart from your beach hotel in the morning and drive through
the Mombasa countryside to Kaloleni where you will be able to
see flora, fauna, farmlands with houses and villages and the
beautiful tropical countryside.
Visit the local market where the
people get their daily needs, like fruits, vegetables, clothes
and any other household goods. Your Mombasa bush tour will also
take you to one of the Primary Schools in Kaloleni, a visit to
the local medicine man to see him in his day to day practices,
you will also interact with the locals to feel the real Giriama
life and taste the local brews – palm wine as you watch local
dancers doing their thing.
For a full day bush tour you will continue your with excursion
through the mango and sisal plantation on way to Porini Village
for a late African lunch and entertainment with local dancers.
After lunch, transfer back to your hotel arriving early evening.

You will be picked from your hotel in the morning and drive
to Wasini Island along Mombasa – Lunga Lunga highway and on to
Shimoni jetty where you will board an Arabic dhow and sail for
one hour searching for dolphins in the Kisite-Mpunguti marine
national - one of the best marine reserves in Kenya. The park
covers 28 sq km of pristine coral reefs and offers excellent
diving and snorkeling. You have a reasonable chance of seeing
dolphins in the Shimoni Channel and humpback whales are
sometimes spotted between August and October. The dhow trip
normally includes lunch and a walk in the coral gardens on
Wasini Island.
You will then be returned to your Mombasa hotel in the evening.

Leave your coastal hotel early in the morning and drive
Shimba Hills National Reserve, just 45 minutes outside of
Mombasa city. Enter Shimba Hills Reserve and proceed on a
morning game drive in search
of the rare sable antelopes,
Giraffes, buffalos, Leopards, Elephants and many other animals.
On a clear day, you can see the Usambara Mountains in Tanzania.
Lunch will be had at the Shimba Hills Lodge, the only wooden
Tree Lodge in the coastal area. The Shimba Hills Tree Lodge
overlooks a waterhole, the restaurant is strategically affording
guests wonderful view of the waterhole and the animals that come
to quench their thirst there.
Lunch will be followed by a short rest then we proceed for
another game drive. You will have a chance to visit the
spectacular Sheldrick Falls where you can walk between the water
and the cliff and swim safely in a small pool. Afterwards we
drive on our way out of the park and back to the hotel, arriving
early in the evening.

The Malindi Town and Gedi ruins Tour takes you to Malindi
across the new Mtwapa and Kilifi bridges to visit the Gedi ruins
a 12th Century Swahili village that was mysteriously abandoned
some 600 years ago due to unknown causes. Despite Gedi's close
proximity to Malindi; it was never a focus of any European
activity. In fact, Gedi was allegedly an invisible town never
mentioned in any manuscripts or writing. Swahili Muslims
established a mosque, homes and ran the town
Gedi ruins is now a National Museum, and the ruins are heavily
overgrown with beautiful indigenous forest trees, baobabs and
tamarind. Well worth a walk and a visit. Look out for Syke's
Monkeys, and the Golden Rumped Elephant Shrew can also be seen
here. A quiet, careful look in some of the old wells can turn
out the odd owl, too.

Continue to Malindi town where you will see narrow alleys in the
old part of town where the old houses have been lived in for
centuries. One of the oldest East African churches still stands
strong; the Church of St. Francis Xavier still stands strong
across from Vasco da Gama's pillar, where he carved the
Christian cross. Also extant is the Juma'a mosque, which was
misused as a haven for slave trading until mid 1870's Optional
Visit to the Marine Park to view marine life in a glass-bottomed
boat. After lunch in a local restaurant visit the Snake Farm and
the Falconry. Thereafter drive back to Mombasa arriving in the
evening.
